The National Committee for Global Change Research brings the global change initiative, Future Earth, to Finland. The National Committee is working to establish a national network of sustainability scientists to stimulate engagement between Finnish researchers and the Future Earth – Global Research Networks (GRNs) and other key international networks in sustainability sciences
Future Earth Suomi (FES; Future Earth Finland) aims to tackle questions on global change and sustainable development from an integrated, interdisciplinary perspective. These objectives are reflected in the Steering Group of the National Committee, which consists of high-level scientists across different disciplines. The secretariat of the National Committee is located at the University of Helsinki.
The Future Earth Finland (FES) National Committee for Global Change Research brings the global change initiative, Future Earth, to Finland. The National Committee is working to establish a national network of scientists to connect Finnish researchers with the Future Earth and other and other key international networks in sustainability sciences. The emphasis is on supporting early-career researchers in sustainability to build international connections. Through travel grants, FES enables young researchers to participate in international sustainability-related conferences and engage especially with the Future Earth – Future Earth Global Research Networks (GRNs), which link over 20 global networks and around 50,000 researchers worldwide. Individual networks can serve as a significant pathway to internationalization for Finnish researchers. The focus areas are climate change, biodiversity, circular economy, and sustainable development.
Future Earth Finland (FES) is part of the Future Earth global network. FES members are also widely networked with other actors in the field of sustainability science and will also provide additional information about these opportunities and upcoming conferences.
