The Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC) – national Flagship

The ACCC is a Finnish Flagship constituted by the University of Helsinki, Tampere University, University of Eastern Finland and the Finnish Meteorological Institute working to address two of the most urgent global Grand Challenges: climate change and deteriorating air quality.

PEEX
The Pan-Eurasian Experiment (PEEX) program is a multidisciplinary climate change, air quality, environment and research infrastructure initiative focused on the Northern Eurasian particularly arctic and boreal regions. PEEX HQ hosted by INAR at the University of Helsinki. Website.

UArctic

The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a network of universities, colleges, research institutes, and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North. UArctic builds and strengthens collective resources and infrastructures that enable member institutions to better serve their constituents and their regions.

SusTra

Sustainability Transformations is a doctoral education pilot implemented jointly by ten Finnish universities and the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) during 

2025–2027. Science panels and other stakeholders are involved in this pilot for 40+24 doctoral researchers. Sustainability transformations research is interdisciplinary and solution-oriented, focusing on climate change, biodiversity loss and depletion of natural resources. “SusTra” seeks to create a larger community around these topics. www.uef.fi/sustra
